Title: What issues can arise after changing spark plugs on a Ford Ranger?
Linear Mode
#1
Alright, so I changed the spark plugs on my 2010 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L V6 engine last weekend, and things haven’t been the same since. The truck's idle is rough, and I didn’t expect any problems, considering it was a routine job. I used Motorcraft plugs, which I thought were a safe bet since they’re OEM, but now I’m second-guessing everything.

Is it normal for the truck to need a little time to adjust to the new plugs, or did I mess something up during the install? I was pretty careful with the torque, but I’ve heard that even a slight gap misalignment or a loose plug could cause issues. Could it also be something like a bad coil pack that just happened to show up after the spark plug change? Maybe I accidentally knocked a wire or connection loose while working in the engine bay?

Also, would cleaning the throttle body help smooth things out, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any ideas on what might be causing this rough idle would be super helpful—especially if you’ve had the same problem after a plug change. I’m all ears!
