Hey everyone, I need some advice. I’ve been getting the “Charging System Failure” message on my Ford Ranger recently, and I’m not sure what’s going on. It started popping up randomly while I was driving, and now it seems to come on more frequently. At first, I thought it might just be a glitch, but now I’m worried it could be something more serious.
I’ve read that this message usually means the alternator or battery is having issues, and I did notice my lights dimming a bit when the warning comes on. Could it be that the alternator is on its way out? Or maybe the battery isn’t holding a charge as well as it should? I haven’t had the battery replaced in a couple of years, so it’s possible. I’ve also heard that a loose connection or even a bad wire could trigger this message, but I wouldn’t know where to look.
Has anyone else had this problem with their Ranger? Did it turn out to be the alternator, or was it something simpler like a loose cable? I’d appreciate any advice on what steps I should take before I end up stuck somewhere with a dead battery! Should I get the alternator tested, or start with the battery first? Thanks!
