Title: Ford Ranger 2010 SuperCab: Speaker Sizes and Upgrade Recommendations?
Threaded Mode
#1
Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2010 Ford Ranger SuperCab, and I’m thinking about upgrading the sound system. The factory speakers just aren’t cutting it anymore—everything sounds a bit flat and tinny, especially when I’m on the highway with the windows down. I’m not looking to shake the neighborhood with bass, but I do want a clearer, richer sound for my music.

Here’s where I’m at:

Stock Speaker Sizes: From what I’ve gathered, the front door speakers are 6x8 inches, and I believe the rear speakers (in the SuperCab) are the same size. Can anyone confirm if that’s correct? I’ve read some conflicting information online, and I want to make sure I’m not ordering the wrong sizes.

Upgrade Recommendations: I’m looking for a solid upgrade that’ll give me a noticeable improvement in sound quality without emptying my wallet. I’m leaning towards something like the Pioneer or JBL 6x8 speakers, but I’m open to suggestions. I’d love something that has good midrange and clear highs, maybe with a bit more punch in the bass than the stock ones, but again, nothing over the top.

Installation Tips: I’m planning to install them myself, so any advice on that would be great too. Are there any particular challenges I should be aware of, like tight spaces or tricky wiring? I’ve done some basic car audio work before, but this will be my first time working on the Ranger.

Has anyone here upgraded their speakers in a similar model? What did you go with, and how did it turn out? I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially if you’ve found a setup that delivers good sound quality on a budget. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been down the same road with my 2010 Ford Ranger SuperCab, and upgrading the sound system made a world of difference. You’re spot on with the stock speaker sizes—both the front door and rear speakers in the SuperCab are 6x8 inches. I remember double-checking that myself before ordering, and it’s definitely correct.

For the upgrade, I went with the Pioneer 6x8 speakers, and they’ve been a solid improvement over the stock ones. They deliver a much clearer sound with better mids and highs, and the bass has a nice punch without being overwhelming. If you’re leaning towards JBL, they’re also a great choice and might give you a bit more warmth in the sound. Both brands are known for good quality at a reasonable price, so you can’t go wrong with either.

As for the installation, it’s pretty straightforward, but there are a few things to keep in mind. The space inside the door panels is a bit tight, so just be careful when you’re maneuvering the new speakers in place. The wiring should be easy to match up, especially if you get a set of speaker adapters—those will save you from having to splice anything. Also, make sure you’ve got some basic tools like a panel remover, as the plastic clips on the door panels can be a bit stubborn.

I did the install myself, and it took me a couple of hours, mostly because I took my time to make sure everything was done right. The improvement in sound quality was immediately noticeable, especially at highway speeds with the windows down. It’s definitely worth the effort, and you’ll enjoy your music a lot more once it’s all set up.

Good luck with the upgrade! If you’ve got any other questions during the install, feel free to ask—I’d be happy to help.
